Position Summary
The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) provides direct therapy services to clients under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. The SLPA assists with implementing treatment plans, documenting progress, and supporting communication development goals for students receiving speech services.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct speech and language therapy services under SLP supervision
- Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising SLP
- Assist with speech, language, and communication activities
- Collect and document student data and progress notes
- Prepare therapy materials and activities
- Collaborate with supervising SLP and IEP team members
- Communicate professionally with parents/guardians regarding session activities
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program
- Active North Carolina SLPA license (or eligibility)
- Experience working with school-age populations preferred
- Experience with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, learning disablilities
- Strong communication and organizational skills
